Salmonella Spurs Recall of Swiss Rolls, Bread

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled rolls and bread to date

TUESDAY, July 24, 2018 (HealthDay News) — Possible Salmonella contamination has led to the recall of rolls and bread made by Flowers Foods, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall includes Swiss Rolls distributed across the United States and sold under the brand names Mrs. Freshley’s, Food Lion, H-E-B, Baker’s Treat, Market Square, and Great Value, and Captain John Derst’s Old Fashioned Bread distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Whey powder used in the products may be contaminated with Salmonella. The whey powder has been recalled by the maker. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled rolls and bread, according to Flowers Foods.

Consumers with the recalled rolls and bread should not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, consumers can call Flowers Foods at 1-866-245-8921.
