Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts seeking public opinion prior to filing rules
WEDNESDAY, July 1, 2015 (HealthDay News) — New classification of licensure for assistant physicians has been created, and public opinion is being sought by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts prior to filing these rules with the Secretary of State’s Office and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.
A new classification of licensure for assistant physicians was created with passage of Senate bills 716 and 754 in 2014. An assistant physician is defined as an individual who is a citizen and resident of the United States, or a legal resident alien, and has successfully completed Step 2 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination or equivalent.
The draft rules have been posted online by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts; comments can be submitted by July 10, 2015. Comments will be reviewed at the July 23 to 24, 2015, board meeting.
“The rule promulgation process is lengthy,” according to the State Board. “At this time, we are unable to estimate the effective date of the rule; however, we will continue to update the website as information becomes available.”
